Why Goshukan
Traditional karate taught in a safe, positive and encouraging dojo, building mental and physical strength, fitness, focus and confidence.
We encourage every student to keep improving. Karate builds strength of mind and body, so you meet life's challenges with more confidence.
Classes are taught by qualified black belts who take their own training seriously, led by Nick Sensei, 4th Dan in JKF Gojukai and Gojuryu Seiwakai.
About NickFrom Lil Ninjas at 4 years old to adult beginners, with a class for every level from white belt to black belt.
Everyone trains in an encouraging dojo and is treated with respect. Junior classes are capped at a 12:1 student-to-instructor ratio.
Gojuryu is a close-range style. Escapes, strikes and locks are part of every Teens & Adults class.

Your instructor
Nick started karate at 43, training alongside his six-year-old daughter Brooke. Within a couple of months he'd quit smoking for good, and he never looked back.
Today he holds Yondan (4th Dan) in both the Japan Karate Federation Gojukai and Gojuryu Seiwakai, and has been teaching for over 15 years.

Yes. On Mondays and Thursdays, Junior Dragons finishes just before Teens & Adults starts, so kids and parents can train on the same evening. Teens from 10 can train side by side with their parents.
Absolutely not. Everyone trains at their own pace, with no expectation of fitness or ability. Beginners learn the basics with an assistant instructor, then join the rest of the class.
If you can walk onto the mat, you can train. Nick Sensei started at 43 and went on to earn his 4th Dan.
Usually around 4 to 5 years, depending on how often you train and how committed you are to improving.
Not necessarily. If you've trained in a Goju-based style, you can keep training in your current belt until you're assessed and formally graded into the Goshukan system. Talk to Nick about your training history.
